Top Five Most Expensive Cars in The World

Yesterday we did a feature on the top five most expensive homes in the world, and that got us thinking. So we started digging around to find out what were the top five most expensive cars in the world. After a long arduous search, the results are in and the price tags, staggering.

First – Buggati Veyron, $1,700,000 — This is by far the most expensive, street legal, car available today.  Why so much you ask? Well, for starters, it is the fastest accelerating car on the planet moving from 0 to 60 in 2.6 seconds. That’s right. 2.6 seconds. Imagine that for a moment. It takes 2.6 seconds to blink a couple of times. 2.6 seconds to type the word “seconds.” That is straight ridiculous. And if its quickness isn’t enough reason for the cost, add this in. The Buggati Veyron is the second fastest car on the planet with a top speed of 253 mph (the SSC Ultimate Aero holds the top spot on that one, reportedly exceeding speeds of 253 mph). Quite simply, this is the baddest car on the block. Period.

Second – Lamborghini Reventon $1,600,000 — This is the most expensive Lamborghini ever built, not to mention the most powerful. This bad boy moves from 0 to 60 in 3.3 seconds and has a top speed of 211 mph. One of the rarest Lamborghini’s in the world, it isn’t difficult to imagine why this ride so expensive.

Third – McLaren F1, $970,000 — 16 years ago, the McLaren F1 was the fastest car in the world.  Today, the 16-year-old model still remains one of the fasted cars on the planet with top speeds exceeding 240 mph. It fly’s from 0 to 60 in 3.2 seconds, and for more than a decade, this awesome piece of engineering has out performed just about every other sports car built since.

Fourth – Ferrari Enzo, $670,000 — You had to know there was going to be a Ferrari on the list, right? This one is for the little boy in us all. The Ferrari Enzo is probably the most recognized of the five. This gorgeous machine can go from 0 to 60 in 3.4 second with top speeds of around 217 mph. Only 500 of these puppies were ever unleashed, making this one of the most exotic Ferrari’s out there. Some enthusiasts are even dropping a $1 million on this beauty at auto auctions. Not a bad way to spend a million if you ask us.

Fifth – Pagani Zonda C12 F, $650,000— A small company in Italy manufactured this rare sports car, and not many of them were produced, maybe 1,000.  It ranks as the fifth fastest car in the world with top speeds exceeding 215 mph. Its sleek body and unique design separate the Zonda from every other super-sports car around.  Oh yeah, and did we mention that it burns from 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds. Sweet!
