The YSL Manifesto

Fashionistas around the world are dying for strawberries. Not the fruit, that is, but a cotton tote bag designed by Stefano Pilati and imprinted with the strawberry motif seen throughout the Yves Saint Laurent Spring Collection. Although this bag is desirable enough on its own, people in the know understand that the real golden ticket is what’s inside. Esteemed fashion house YSL is gearing up to distribute one heck of a gift—2,000 lucky passersby on the streets of each fashion capital of the world will receive its Spring/Summer 2010 Manifesto. Come February 16 in New York City, and February 20 in Paris, London, Milan, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Berlin, there will be a collective outcry for the 6th annual newspaper-sized fashion catalogue depicting the brands new campaign. Under the creative direction of Pilati, the Manifesto features stunning imagery of Natalia Vodianova shot by renowned photographers Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. Previous cover girls have included Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell, and Claudia Schiffer. If you’re not one of the chosen ones, however, don’t dismay. You can still get a peek at the Manifesto as YSL plans to release it on their official website, Facebook page, and Twitter account. As if that’s not enough, you can also check out three short videos documenting the making of the Manifesto, which will be screened on the YSL Youtube channel this week. So break out the whipped cream and chocolate to go with those strawberries, and get ready for a fashion feast!
