Haute Style: Technically Fashionable

As we saw last fall, there is a growing trend of streaming fashion shows broadcasting live to the masses. This is not only a powerful PR tool, but also a practical business strategy, as the web has an instant, global reach that consumers increasingly demand. Designers from Michael Kors to Alexander McQueen led the designer pack by fulfilling that need with their Spring shows, and now there’s word that Marc Jacobs will be streaming his Fall 2010 collection live on February 15, just as he had done with his LVMH show last year.  If you still seek the thrill of sitting in his audience that evening, you can enter to win tickets to his actual show on his website.

In related news, London Fashion Week, which runs February 19-24, will launch a new initiative to stream the upcoming fall runway shows live on its website as well. And if that were not cutting edge enough, a selection of digitally presented fashion films created by some of London’s most innovative designers such as Twenty8Twelve, Hussein Chalayan, Danielle Scutt, Boudicca, and Antoni & Alison will also be available. Viewing the glamorous event from the comfort of your own home is just too fabulous to pass up, so be sure to check back for the updated schedule next week for both the shows and the films.

With London launching such a game-changing enterprise, can New York be far behind?
