Babycakes is one of New York’s greatest gluten-free bakeries and they are heading to Los Angeles to open another location. For those of you that can’t wait, you won’t have too much longer—opening is scheduled for some time this month!
Babycakes, the “refined sugar-free, gluten-free, wheat-free, soy-free, casein-free, egg-free, vegan, kosher” bakery is a huge hit with locals and visitors in New York City, and now they are preparing to treat baked-goods enthusiasts in Los Angeles with the opening of their new location set for this month.
Owner, Erin McKenna says, “We’re built, we’re just waiting on the final bits of paperwork!” Babycake’s website has a “vacation-inspired” video in honor of the news of their Los Angeles debut which can be seen here, aimed to give those who don’t already know and love the cute little bakery a chance to get a sense of the Babycakes aesthetic.
While no specific day has actually been mentioned on their website, they do advertise that the opening will be happening in December 2009, so hold tight, it is coming. The bakery will be located at 130 East 6th Street (between S. Main Street and S. Los Angeles Street.
