Proving that things come as easily as they go, there has been an alarming number of “pop up” shops throughout LA lately. As soon as you find out about one you really might like, it seems it’s already moved on – may sound familiar, but we’re still only talking about shops. Here are some exciting pop ups that you’ll want to act on quick. No playing hard to get here.
DecadesTwo, the vintage shop on Melrose that’s really worth it’s salt, is braving the Westside as of November 13 for an elusive two days. It will set up at Post26 at the Brentwood Country Mart and will quickly close up on November 15, so you’ll want to snag your vintage YSL gown as soon as possible – doesn’t matter that you haven’t got anywhere to wear it.
Designer Rachel Pally has jumped on the bandwagon with just the right idea. Her pop up shop, situated on La Brea Blvd., has been open since October 22 and is currently operating without a set closing date. Her collections of colorful cocktail dresses and comfortable materials should keep her around for a while, but you never know.
Women may have more fun shopping on a regular basis than men, but they’re certainly not left out of this commitment-free fashion trend. Social Primer has set up a pop up shop at Alpha Gear for Gents (which is a fantastic find in it’s own right) and will be around through December 31. You’ll find a selection of perfect gifts for any man in your life – well, any civilized man that is.
In the distinct case that you’re a fan of Vans sneakers (and if you live in LA, it’s safe to assume you are…) then you’ll enjoy the pop up shop at Fred Segal Santa Monica, called Conveyor, that will be around through mid-January. They’re offering up a pretty impressive collection of “Vault by Vans” as well as a number of items that had sold-out in other spots. See? It pays to find out what’s popping up and where.
It’s always nice to enjoy a bit of a treat while you blow your savings. The problem is that Cuvee isn’t on the same side of Robertson as your favorite shops and it’s just not worth risking lives trying to cross the street. Problem, even if you didn’t know you had it, solved: Platine Bakery will set up a pop up shop in Anya Hindmarch’s Robertson Blvd boutique. A portion of the proceeds will go toward the kids in CoachArt and the cookies will be available through the month of November. That’s the sweetest pop up we know – if only it could stay forever.
