Gearing up for Hotel Eventi

Kimpton’s latest New York City project is slowly, but surely, sprouting up in Chelsea and anticipation is quickly growing with the buzz of the hotel group’s new addition.

Hotel Eventi will function primarily as a hotel, however, it will share its entire-city-block space with rental apartments, retail stores, and even an outdoor plaza with public seating. In true New York style, the developers of Hotel Eventi are also including a 20-foot wide screen intended to be used in the plaza for public and private events.

While exterior construction of the hotel is rumored to be nearly complete, some are wondering when the interior designers will get the go-ahead to work their magic on the inside of the hotel. CEO Michael Depatie is reported to have said Eventi will open “sometime next year,” however, the Kimpton website indicates it could be a little longer than that with “coming soon in 2010/2011” cited as their current take on the matter.

Taking charge of the hotel’s interior decorations is designer Colum McCartan, who is responsible for the interiors of hotels such as Le Parker Meridien New York, Hotel Adagio, Hotel Vitale in San Francisco, and Hotel Sax in Chicago. Hotel Eventi will features 287 guest rooms, a gym, a spa, a multi-level bar and restaurant, and private landscaped terraces.
