Dubai Develops Highest Fountain in the World

Ok, I’m going to come straight out and say it. Dubai is my nomination for Haute location of the day. Why, you ask? Well, quite simply, this place defines the phrase ‘bigger and better’. Dubai is already the home of the world’s highest building (Burj Dubai) and construction is underway for the world’s highest arch bridge, but move over boys there’s a new sheriff in town, The Dubai Fountain.

Yes, the highest fountain in the world is currently spraying its way to record heights in the Emirate State. It was built for $217 million, by the aptly named WET Design, can reach heights of up to 452 ft and has 6,600 lights. Rest assured, this fountain is not simply a wash tub for birds to bathe themselves. No, it’s a much bigger spectacle.

The 900 ft long water extravaganza uses 50 coloured projectors, and is controlled by a remote computer system. It is 25% larger than the fountain at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, and can spray 22 gallons of water in the air at anytime. The final piece of this magnificent production is the synchronized music sequence that accompanies the jets of water.

We at Haute Living are exhausted just thinking about the phenomenon in action. I for one would love someone, anyone (if anyone’s offering) to buy me a trip to Dubai and examine this amazing structure for myself. In the meantime, I guess I’m just going to have to find a fountain around here, toss a few coins in and make a wish for that trip.
