WHAT: The 53rd Annual Vizcayan Ball Supporting The Vizcayans’ mission to protect and preserve Vizcaya Museum and Gardens
The Vizcayans will host the 53rd Annual Vizcayan Ball at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. For more than a half century, this event has been a centerpiece of the South Florida social calendar. Proceeds of the event support The Vizcayans’ mission of protecting and preserving Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, a local treasure and National Historic Landmark.
Cindy Carr, a well-known South Florida philanthropist, is the special honoree for this year’s Vizcayan Ball. She will be recognized for her many years of generous participation and loyal support of The Vizcayans’ work on behalf of Vizcaya. Ball Co-Chairs are Donald Kress, President of The Vizcayans and Senior VP of Northern Trust, NA, and William Jones, Treasurer of The Vizcayans and Senior VP of SunTrust Bank, South Florida. Silent Auction Co-Chairs are Norma A. Quintero, The Vizcayans Past President and M. Holmes, Ball Committee Member and President, Overseas Partners Realty.
On November 10, 2009, Leslie Bowe, The Vizcayans VP, hosted a pre-Ball party at Hugo Boss at the Village of Merrick Park where guests were treated to an evening of preferential shopping and the opportunity to win a Hugo Boss men’s tuxedo just in time for the Vizcayan Ball.
A key fundraising component of the Vizcayan Ball is the silent auction which augments the revenue generated by the sale of tables and tickets. The silent auction offers guests a full range of quality goods and services including jewelry, artwork, fashion items, travel, restaurant and personal care packages, home decorating items and other unique items. In exchange for the donation of items, our supporters receive recognition in our sponsor lists, invitations, pre- and post-Ball publicity – the donation of items to the Vizcayan Ball provides direct exposure to a very select audience in South Florida.
The gala will showcase the culinary talents of Thierry’s Catering, beginning with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and sumptuous seafood bar overlooking Vizcaya’s historic gardens followed by an elegant dinner on Vizcaya’s East Terrace overlooking Biscayne Bay. The Steve Chase Band will entertain our guests with dance music in the big band style, leading up to the evening’s crescendo of a spectacular display of fireworks over the water by Fireworks Displays Unlimited. The evening is being coordinated by ANJE Soirees.
The Vizcayans engage broad participation in the preservation and advancement of Vizcaya Museum and Gardens as an accredited museum and a National Historic Landmark through financial support, advocacy and other activities. The Vizcayans is an independent, nonprofit organization recognized as tax-exempt under section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
