X Marks the Haute Spot

The creator of the X-Files Chris Carter is making moves. His 4,209-square-foot house in Malibu hit the market for a cool  $17.495 million, while on the same street, he has a second home listed for $7.9 million.

First, the big one: the home is not listed under Carter’s name, but under “Lucklucky Trust,” a telltale sign that the property is owned by a celebrity; what private citizen lists a home under a trust’s name?  The home was built in 2004, and evokes a modern design with glass walls, wood and stone floors, clean lines, and “quality materials,” according to the listing, which is not on MLS. It has four and a half baths, and the 1.28-acre property overlooks a surfing beach (Carter is an avid surfer) and features a garden and beach access. While not on the beach itself, the proximity is a main draw.

The second home listed by Carter is a four-bedroom, 2,981-square-foot beauty on 1.06 acres. It features a spacious great room with vaulted wood ceilings, more glass walls, an open kitchen, media area, and master suite with similar valuted wood ceilings, skylights, and an enormous walk-in closet. The grounds feaure a lap pool, spa, lighted tennis court, koi pond, tropical gardens, and partial ownership of—and therefore easy access to—Zumirez Beach.

Don’t fret though, Carter isn’t listing these properties in hopes of clearing out his portfolio. He owns a plethora of properties in California, including another 2,679-square-foot house on Zumirez Drive.
