Turkish Billionaire Owns Two Units at the Plaza

According to Forbes magazine, Turgay Ciner is one of the world’s richest people.  The self-made billionaire is from Turkey and owns plants as well as copper, aluminum, and soda ash mines there.  Now, he also owns two units at the Plaza.

His latest unit was purchased for $10.725 million.  The 15th-floor unit is a 2,791-square-foot, three-bedroom condo and is two stories below his first apartment.  City property records show that the contract was drawn in July and closed on September 22.   The seller of the apartment is identified as Bathhurst Properties, LLC.  The company purchased the unit for $14.27 million in March of 2008 and it was listed a week later for $20.75 million.
Ciner’s first condo in the Plaza was purchased in January of 2008 for $9.16 million and is a 2,203-square-foot sponsor unit with two bedrooms.  According to records, he owns both units and neither one is listed on the market.
