The Proof Will be in the Pudding

It’s that time of year again, and even though traffic on the beach is about to become every local’s worst nightmare, we can’t deny a certain sense of eager anticipation that the high season is about to be in full swing once again. It’s not just the onslaught of seemingly endless cocktail invites, boutique openings, and grand gala affairs that feed our need for haute entertainment every night of the week. We also find ourselves saying hello (and too often a quick goodbye) to the great restaurants giving it a go on the American Riviera.

In November, South Beach scenesters can try their luck at a new Ocean Drive restaurant in the Z Ocean Hotel South Beach called Proof. Touted as a health-conscious restaurant and lounge, the waterfront eatery will deliver a warm American bistro concept combined with California fresh cuisine.

Perhaps the announcement of two famous faces who are backing the Miami Beach restaurant will be of most interest to the throng of football fans sunbathing on our shores this winter. Proof recently revealed that Miami Dolphins running back Ricky Williams and NFL All-Time Player Rudi Johnson are now proud papas of the restaurant, located at 1458 Ocean Dr.

“We are thrilled to have such highly-regarded, well-known backers as Ricky and Rudi in our new venture,” said Douglas McAllister, President and CEO of Hospitality Development Management Group (HDMG), developers of PROOF. “Their leadership and determination on the field will translate just as well off the field, and will no doubt contribute to our commitment to making PROOF a major Miami Beach hot-spot and success.”
