Lend Us Your Ears: Olsen and Mizrahi Talk Fashion

Ashley Olsen and Isaac Mizrahi were among the highlights of a fashion-forum held at 92nd Street Y, one of NYC’s under-the-radar artistic venues. Cindi Leive, the editor-in-chief of Glamour Magazine, prompted the guests on topics ranging from designers teaming up with stores priced to cater to the masses (such as Mizrahi’s line with Target), to the future of higher end labels like Olsen’s Elizabeth and James.  Adding to the mix of fashion heavyweights, Robin Givhan was also present to give her opinions on the future of fashion.  The discussion also included Michelle Obama’s influence on modern women and how she is affecting the world of wardrobe.

Mizrahi served not only as a knowledgeable fashion outlet, but dually as comic relief. His humor and his ability to relate to the audience through descriptions disguised in analogies shined in full force. Olsen’s own answer to an audience question was also humorous, though perhaps not intentionally—when asked about her clothing choice of the evening, she said she put on something comfortable, albeit her feet were adorned with five-inch heels.
