Yachting in Palm Beach

Mark your calendars because megayachts from around the world are revving up and cruising into South Florida for the largest charitable yacht rendezvous in the nation on November 12 through 14, 2009. While there will be many events making the 22nd Annual Showboats International Rendezvous a fun-filled weekend at Rybovich Yacht Club, the latest news that is making a splash is the announcement that Donna Summer will be performing live at the gala event at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach. Mr. and Mrs. Donald J. Trump have also been announced as the honorary chairs for this year’s special event, which will follow a James Bond theme.

“Each year the entertainment for the Rendezvous is outstanding,” said Rick Case, founder of the Annual Showboats International Rendezvous. “And this year is no different, promising to be better than ever with what is sure to be a superb performance by Donna Summer. Combined with the special addition of Mr. and Mrs. Donald J. Trump to the chairing committee, joining Linda and Douglas Von Allmen and Fonda and H. Wayne Huizenga, Jr., there is no limit to the wonders this year’s event will bring.”

The weekend festivities will kick off on Thursday night with the “Dine Around the Docks” Yacht Hop. “[At] this year’s Yacht Hop…guests can indulge in delectable bites dockside, with the stars above as their candle light and the amazing megayachts as their scenery. Perhaps the most thrilling part of the night is when guests are welcomed aboard some of the breathtaking floating palaces to take a tour of the luxurious life,” said Douglas Von Allmen, Rendezvous co-chair.

On Friday night, there will be a fashion show and luncheon, a silent auction at the Luxe Pavilion, and a disco-themed costume dinner at John and Jeanette Staluppi’s Cars of Dreams Museum.

To sign up to attend any of the events or the entire weekend, or for ticket information, please call 954.537.1010 or visit Yacht Rendezvous.
