Riva-ting Beauty

Every September, thousands of visitors flock to the exquisite Port de Cannes to view and tour the newest and most luxurious models and novelties from the world’s finest yacht manufacturers. From small leisure boats to ultra glamorous megayachts, the Cannes International Boat Show is the quintessential place for companies to showcase their prized creations to buyers and boating enthusiasts alike. This year Riva will exceed all expectations with the debut of the posh new 86’ Domino, a perfect craft for owners in search of a sporty model. What those at Cannes will not be able to see is the way this beauty looks as the twin 2435 hp MTU engines swiftly propel her body over the crystal waters, creating a wake resembling fresh snow on a mountaintop, as it reaches a top speed of 38 knots (with a cruise speed of 34 knots).

For the design of Domino, Riva once again turned to Mauro Micheli and his Officina Italiana Design to create a new modish and dynamic line, which is an evolution of the 63-foot Vertigo and 68-foot Ego models. The designer, who started working with the Italian shipyard 25 years ago, embraced the tradition and values of Riva in this latest beauty while providing guests with more space and a multiplex of areas for socializing, characteristics that make this yacht idyllic for both long cruises and daily life on board.

A fresh shade, called Metallic Ice, delicately coats the hull and deckhouse, creating an extravagant, dramatic effect that mesmerizes those who lay eyes on her. The yacht is graced with clean, winning lines that depict a vibrant personality that portrays the yacht’s true splendor. Domino, similar to the 92-foot Duchessa, has an expansive sundeck at the bow, featuring a table for six, the perfect perch to enjoy an elegant meal while watching the sunset on the horizon. To accommodate more guests, another table for six and a plush, comfortable sofa adorn the cockpit. The private sundeck is perfectly integrated into the upper part of the deckhouse, thus hidden from the outside. Here, guests can shed inhibitions and bask in the wonderful outdoors on the sunpad with reclining back. For difficult mooring maneuvers, a second steering position is also located on the bow.

Should it get too steamy outside, venture into the air-conditioned upper saloon to cool off and have an afternoon snack while relaxing at the dinette. A large LCD television not only separates the upper saloon from the helm station, but also offers ample entertainment options. This design ensures that natural light can flood through the large side windows and windshield, fully illuminating the area. The unique shades of elm and gray durmast that encompass the interior complement the natural-colored leather inserts and gray lacquering. The palette adds both sophistication and exuberance to the furnishing elements, resulting in a spacious environment that feels extremely welcoming.

When confined to a yacht for days at a time, privacy is a coveted commodity, something Micheli recognized. Located on the mezzanine level is a fully equipped gallery, accessed from the helm station, while the crew cabins for four members can be accessed from the stern cockpit, allowing owners and guests to enjoy themselves as they see fit without the watchful eye of the staff.

Privacy is also afforded within the confines of the suites. The owner of this exceptional yacht certainly deserves an elegant, plush, soothing master bedroom befitting of royalty. Equipped with an en-suite bath and walk-in wardrobe, the master cabin is embellished with a private living room area and vanity, creating a divine and spacious layout. The tasteful design of the large window in correspondence with the full-beam master cabin allows as much natural light as feasibly possible to enter the environment. The VIP cabin is located at the opposite end of the craft at the bow, with two twin guest cabins tucked between the main cabins. The portside guest cabin features a system of beds on sliding tracks, allowing it to be transformed into a second cabin with a double bed.

International yachting aficionados at the Cannes International Boat Show will be amongst the first to admire the delicate, opulent charm of Domino, but yacht-spotters across the globe will soon be keeping their eyes peeled for a sighting at the world’s finest ports and marinas. This yacht guarantees astounding performance, with a system for managing and controlling all onboard functions, and is designed to make anyone feel at home.
