The Caramoor International Music Festival opens its first ever fall festival with a gala event, “Garden of Great Music.” The seasonal festival opens on Friday, October 2, in the Venetian Theater with Alan Gilbert, who will be celebrating his inaugural season as the New York Philharmonic’s music director, leading the orchestra and legendary pianist Emanuel Ax in an all-Beethoven program consisting of Piano Concerto No. 4 and Symphony No. 7. The concert at Caramoor is a highlight of the first weeks of Alan Gilbert’s inaugural season as the 25th Music Director of the New York Philharmonic.

The evening events will kick off at 6:45 with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in the Italian Pavilion and will then continue with a concert set to start at 8:00. After the concert, guests will be served a post-concert dinner with culinary specialties that are sure to delight the palate in the same manner that the music sparked the senses and stirred the soul. The honorees for the opening night gala are members of the William Petschek Family. The extraordinary evening is being co-chaired by Patricia and Edward Falkenberg.

General admission tickets for the concert only are available through Caramoor’s Box Office or online at www.caramoor.org. However, considering that our readers rarely go the way of G.A., gala ticket prices range from $2,500 to $750 and include pre-concert cocktails; seating at the Opening Night concert; and a post-concert dinner. Tables of ten are also available for $25,000 and $12,500.
