South Beach Group owner Alan Lieberman made a promise to himself to make South Beach his own. After creating historic fixtures such as the Catalina, Chelsea, Whitelaw, and Chesterfield, it’s no surprise that South Beach Group Hotels latest pearl, Riviera South Beach, is icing on the cake, its suite-style rooms providing the perfect home away from home for weary travelers.
Located at 2000 Liberty Avenue, the fresh, chic, and stylish Riviera South Beach has been alive with energy since its recent opening. The hotel features 54 one-bedroom apartment-like suites, the second all-suite property to join the growing hotel group, following the 2007 opening of the Metropole South Beach.
Conceptualized and designed by Lieberman, the Hollywood regency-inspired property underwent a $25 million renovation to restore its 1940s architecture. The resulting hotel is a hybrid of classic comfort and urban sophistication, inspired by the modern baroque styles of legend designer Dorothy Draper. Tones of gold, navy, and ivory set the backdrop of the suites, which average 700 square feet and come complete with fashionable gourmet kitchens and separate living and dining areas.
Upon entering the suites, guests will be surrounded by the finest finishings. The sumptuous pillow-top custom beds are made from 100 percent organic cotton, and the luxe bedrooms feature floor-to-ceiling silk draperies. The espresso hardwood is complemented by a unique combination of custom designed wood and ivory-tufted leather furniture. Granite countertops run the length of the kitchen, and progressive stainless steel appliances complete the mod look. Each spacious living room is equipped with a deluxe sleeper sofa, while state-of-the-art technological features, including two flat-screen televisions and iPod docking stations, provide ample entertainment. A VIP concierge is available to assist with all guests’ needs, including grocery delivery, private chefs, and catering service.
True to Draper’s signature style, the main lobby and hallways are neatly comprised of wide striped walls, passionate eye-popping color, and thick textured carpets. The property also boasts an intimate tropical courtyard pool, complete with outdoor grill and bar and private cabanas. The rooftop sundeck provides ample space for sun seekers, and the beach is only a few steps away.
