L’Umo’s Homage

As we noted in our cover profile of South Beacher-gone-Hollywood Brett Ratner, photographer Bruce Webber is one of the reasons Miami Beach made its transition from geriatric haven to international haute spot. He began organizing photo shoots on the sand, the models moved south, and where there are models, there are men with money. Twenty years later, it doesn’t get much hauter than South Beach.

So it is fitting that Webber is behind the 100-page homage to the Magic City that appears in this month’s L’Uomo Vogue, the Italian men’s magazine. Dubbed “My Playground-The Unauthorized Miami Diary,” the images include Webber’s suggestions for posters for the tourism bureau. The shots include artistic portrayals of cheesy beach towels depicting thonged, round asses and bare chested, ripped young men-really the reasons people flock to the Sunshine State’s most happening strip of sand. The intimate, insiders portrayal of the beautiful people on South Beach is an artistic love letter of sorts to Haute Living’s home city. Javier Bardem  appears on the cover of this special edition.
