Developer Aby Rosen, along with the Directors of Marlborough Gallery, recently hosted a celebration and book signing for renowned artist Michelle Oka Doner. In addition to numerous public art installations, many of which are inspired by the natural world, the artist has sustained a decades long exploration of the human figure. The volume honored at the event, entitled HumanNature, is a survey of Oka Doner’s figurative work from 1968 to 2008. At the invitation-only affair, guests had the opportunity to meet Michelle Oka Doner, who, along with George Condo and Peter Lane, has been commissioned to create one-of-a-kind permanent pieces for 350 West Broadway. The turnout was impressive, as more than  300 guests  filled the Sales and Design Gallery for 350 West Broadway, Manhattan’s most iconic residential condominium currently under development in Soho. Guests also had the opportunity to meet Rosen, the developer of the property. When completed, 350 West Broadway will house eight full-floor residences that combine Downtown loft living with Park Avenue-inspired layouts.
Oka Doner is represented by Marlborough Gallery in Chelsea, where an exhibition of her new figures will be on view through January 3, 2009.
