London mansion sells for record-breaking $94 million

London bridge is falling down, but the real-estate market is on the up and up.

The trend has been spotted regularly here at the Haute Blog, as we recently posted that London is the most expensive city in the world.

And, yet, despite that sparkling monicker, we’re still of the mindset that this home sale might STILL be somewhat of a statistical outlier.

Toprak Mansion, which is located on The Bishop’s Avenue, Barnett, sold last week for a earth-shattering $94 million, far outpacing the previous United Kingdom record of $68 million, which was set just two weeks earlier in a home not far away.

The lucky buyer is Horelma Peramam, a billionaire from Kazakhstan (home to Borat!), who will call the home “Royal Mansion.”

According to Fox News, “The neo-classical Toprak, with a green copper roof and Grecian-style pillars at the front, sits in two acres of garden and boasts a main salon that is 80-ft long with a 30-ft dining table, a Turkish bath that can accommodate 20, a swimming pool with a glass bridge and four separate kitchens. The purchaser intends to spend up to $58 million on a revamp by a top Italian designer, as well as installing a beauty salon, spa, heliport, cinema and squash court.”
