Walt Disney’s private pad to open to the public?

We hear the same refrain so often – “location, location, location” – and for some, admittedly mostly the kiddies, there may be no better location that Disneyland.

It should be no surprise then, that the man himself, Walt Disney, actually lived in a 500-square-foot apartment, complete with Victorian decorations and red crushed carpet (hey, tastes change) on the amusement park’s grounds.

Now, more than 40 years since his death, and nearly a quarter century since it was last inhabited by the Disney family, Walt’s humble abode will be open to the public starting in 2008, as part of the company’s 2008 Disney Dreams Giveaway.

The home was once a tucked-away getaway for the likes of Frank Sinatra, John Wayne, and Dick Van Dyke. More recently, it has been used by Disney executives like Michael Eisner for corporate meetings, and by movie stars like Johnny Depp (of “Pirates of the Caribbean” fame) for private parties.

It only makes sense if you wish upon a star that there would be so much star power.
