A partnership between Gianfranco Ferrè and diamond company and DTC sightholder Dalumi has produced a diamond-studded top worth approximately $1.3 million. The price that will be paid is yet to be determined, though, as the top will be put up for silent auction in Dubai after it was shown at a private preview at the Dubai International Jewellery Week.

Ferrè, who died on June 17, was an Italian fashion designer with extensive experience at Christian Dior whose own lines of clothing are also extremely popular. He was six times named the Best Italian Designer (via the Occhio d’Oro Award) in addition to several other accolades throughout the course of his life.

Dalumi, founded in 1960 by Asher Dalumi, was granted its first DTC (Diamond Trading Company) Sight in 1993, and in 2006 added its second, in Botswana.

The top features 905 diamons mounted in 18-karat white gold, wover with 254 carats.
